FRASER CALLS FOR KNIGHTHOOD FOR BRUCE FORSYTH

Christopher Fraser, MP for South West Norfolk, has tabled a Parliamentary Early Day Motion calling on the Government to give “proper recognition” to the contribution of Bruce Forsyth to the popular entertainment industry and to his unstinting work for charity, by honouring him with a Knighthood.

Christopher Fraser said: “The celebration of Bruce Forsyth’s 80th birthday recently has drawn attention to his outstanding contribution to the British entertainment industry. He has brought fun and laughter to the nation, in family shows. How many people can say they have headed the bill on prime-time television for so long? Anyone who has been at the top of their profession for 60 years deserves acknowledgement.

“I first came across Bruce many years ago at the Four Stars Golf in Moor Park, when we were all trying to raise money for charity. Since then, he has become a national institution.

“I am delighted to have secured cross-party support for my EDM. I am looking to the Government to recognise this remarkable career – something that I know would be hugely popular with my constituents and across the country.”
