Christopher Fraser, MP for South West Norfolk, has spoken of his dismay about road safety on the A47 following a fatal crash at Narborough in his constituency this morning.
Christopher Fraser said: “Yet again the A47 is in the news for tragic reasons. My sincere sympathies to the family of the man who lost his life, and to the person seriously injured in the crash.
“I have said on many occasions that this road is one of the most dangerous in the region, and that investment is long overdue to address the shortcomings of our roads infrastructure locally. The single carriageway sections of the A47 just cannot cope with the weight of vehicles using it, particularly at peak commuting times, causing drivers to take risks. The Government must walk up to the fact that this road is unsafe and unfit for traffic conditions in the 21st century. It must be dualled and the Government must find the money to make this possible.”
