Christopher Fraser, MP for South West Norfolk, has secured an adjournment debate on the devastating effect of raves in his constituency. After many attempts to raise in Parliament the need for a review of relevant legislation, his request has been granted, at the specific behest of the Speaker.
Christopher Fraser said:
“I am most grateful to the Speaker for granting my request, particularly because it is the last adjournment debate he can select before Parliament rises for the summer recess. Illegal raves are a big problem in South West Norfolk and the county as a whole. Residents in Marham, Narborough and Cockley Cley suffered unlicensed music events in the last few weeks alone. I receive stacks of letters from constituents who complain about the disturbance, intimidation, vandalism and damage to the local environment caused.
I look forward to being able to raise my concerns with the Government. This is a matter of great distress to many people throughout South West Norfolk and I hope to draw the Minister’s attention to loopholes in the law which stand in the way of proper policing and control.” |
